Meet Heather Franklin
Second-Ponce’s New Youth Summer Intern
By Heather Franklin
Atlanta has been my home for nearly two years. I moved from Columbus, Ga. to pursue my Masters of Divinity at McAfee School of Theology and my experience has been incredible. Entering my final year in seminary, I have been anxiously searching for a way to share my ministerial experience and passion with God’s people. In the midst of looking for this opportunity, Ryan Wilson and I struck up a friendship through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Little did I know that CBF’s congregational experience and mentoring program, Student.Church, would then offer an opportunity for me to work at Second-Ponce as a summer intern.
My experience in ministry has focused around youth and community development. I had the pleasure of working with the youth and college ministries at First Baptist Columbus. In undergrad and while at seminary, I have concentrated my education around non-profits, community development and the intersection of church ministry and community.
I have already been warmly welcomed to the Second-Ponce family. Quickly, I discovered both members and staff are recognized figures from my past. Dr. Hollingsworth was influential in bringing my family to the ministerial role it has today at First Baptist Columbus. I have been excited by the wonderful personalities of our youth, and I am so excited to do life together.
