Welcome to the Young Adult Ministry at Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church!
Our young adults come from all walks of life. We define ‘young adults’ as anyone between the ages of 18-35ish. Within our community there are young married couples, young professionals, recent graduates, graduate students, college students and young singles. We welcome all young adults who desire to live in community, and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. We have a unique communal identity, but are deeply integrated into the Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church family.
Our mission as young adults is Atlanta is three-fold:
- To grow as disciples of Jesus Christ: Through personal and communal study we strive to grow in our understanding of our Christian identity, and how we can live more completely and intentionally into who we have been called to be as disciples of Christ.
- To live intentionally in community with each other: We believe that we are a spiritual family bound together through our shared faith. Because of this truth, we have chosen to gather together often, sharing with each other’s struggles and celebrations in life.
- To be a witness of Jesus Christ in the Atlanta area and beyond: We recognize our calling to be witnesses to the gospel in our local and global community. Through our various community and congregational engagement efforts we strive to make the name of Jesus Christ known in our immediate community and around the world.
We strive to live into our mission through the following ways:
Sunday School: Sunday’s 9:45am, Room B130
Each Sunday morning, we gather together as a community for coffee and fellowship until 10:45am.
We are currently going through a study entitled: The Corinthian Letters: Imperatives for an Imperfect Church. This study explores Paul’s letters to the Church in Corinth. Each week we examine Paul’s attempt to provide guidance for a very troubled and imperfect church.
Fellowship Group: Sunday’s 7:00pm/ or Sunday’s 12:00pm
One way that we strive to live intentionally in community with one another is through our Fellowship Group gatherings. Each Sunday we meet at 7:00pm in one of our young adult’s homes, or for lunch together after the 11:00am worship service. This time together is informal in nature and allows us to learn from each other’s experience, and encourage one another.
For the next several weeks we will be going through Timothy Keller’s book, Every Good Endeavor: Connecting Your Work to God’s Work. Please join us as we work to redefine our work from being simply an occupation to a vocation.
Girl’s and Guy’s Night Out:
Girl’s Night Out: Each month our female young adults meet for dinner at different restaurants to socialize and connect with each other.
Guy’s Night Out: Each month our male young adults get together to have fun and get to know each other.

Social and Ministry Events: Each month we gather together for a social and/or ministry event. Our social events range from a Braves game, to sharing meals together during the week. Our ministry events are often done in conjunction with the larger SPdL congregation.
