new to second-ponce

Welcome, friends! Whether it’s Sunday morning worship, a Tuesday night small group or a Friday night fellowship- you’re welcome here. We’d love to have you join us for any event here at Second-Ponce.

Below are a few of the frequently asked questions posed by newcomers before their first visit. We hope by sharing the answers you feel a little more comfortable stopping by.

COMMON QUESTIONS

  • Is there a dress code? On Sunday mornings, most people wear business casual attire, but we want you to be comfortable. As long as you’re wearing clothes, you’re welcome at Second-Ponce.

  • Where do I park? Second-Ponce has ample onsite parking by utilizing our upper and lower lots. On Sunday mornings, our SPdL Bug (It’s a golf cart. No insects involved.) is ready to take you from your car to the church door.

  • How will I find my way around the church? On Sundays, just inside the church entrance closest to the parking lot (under the covered walkway) is a welcome center staffed with greeters who are eager to meet you and point you in the direction of whatever activity, group or room you’re looking for. For weekday or weekend events, we have plenty of signage and our church office staff are happy to help.

  • Are visitors singled out? You won’t be put on the spot or have to wear a name badge. You do not have to sing along or give an offering. If you have questions, need prayer or are interested in any of our events or resources, a welcome card is available in the pew rack. This card is only used to help us serve you better and keep you informed of church events and activities. You will not be spammed but you will be welcomed.

  • What do you have for kids? On Sunday mornings, there is a nursery for newborns and toddlers where our trained caregivers sing worship songs and play with your little ones.

Children aged four years through 5th grade participate in our Kids Club and enjoy age-appropriate Bible stories, worship, music, drama and crafts. During the 11 a.m. worship, children can use special activity bags to help guide them through the service or they can go to Kid’s Worship.

On Wednesday nights, we have our Kids Explore and Parents Connect groups. Children learn songs, play games and work on special missions projects while their parents meet for a small group with prayer, devotions and fellowship.

There is a check-in system to make dropping off your kids safe and easy.

  • Does Second-Ponce have a mission statement? We do! Our mission is “To know Christ and to make Him known.” As a church, we are intentional about both personal discipleship and the community of discipleship. We desire an authentic relationship with God and want to provide support and opportunities for others to develop a connection of their own.

  • Other than Sunday morning worship, what else do you have? Throughout the week, there are opportunities for children, youth, college students and young adults to meet for fun activities and topical small groups. Singles, seniors and women’s fellowships get together each month to hang out and have a great meal. As a church, we go on mission trips and serve our community by pitching in at school fall festivals and hosting city-wide family events.

  • How do I join? We welcome you to make a commitment to Christ and our community of faith! During the Sunday morning worship service, we provide the opportunity to officially join Second-Ponce during the Hymn of Response. At any time during the song, simply walk to the front of the Sanctuary where our senior pastor or one of our ministers will greet you with warmth and joy. If you worship with us via livestream or television broadcast, email or call Vicki McCaskey to set up a visit with a member of our pastoral leadership. We would love to begin this journey with you wherever you are.
