Honoring the Spirit of Fatherhood
We celebrate the fathers and father figures in our lives.
We grieve with those who feel the sting of loss.
We pray for those who bear the weight of struggle.
We appreciate those who nurture and guide us through every season of life.
May God bless you all.
Celebrating Juneteeth
Juneteenth (June + nineteenth) celebrates the date in 1865 when Texas, the last stronghold of slavery, received a formal decree to liberate all enslaved people.
As Christians, we honor this day because after generations of calling on the Lord for deliverance, our enslaved brothers and sisters were set free. The triumph over oppression is one of the greatest themes in the Bible.
The lyrics of a sacred Christmas hymn come to mind:
Truly He taught us to love one another; His law is love, and His gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother; And in His name, all oppression shall cease.
Thanks be to God.
