Worship Council Update

This month, our church blog will hear mid-year updates from our four councils: Discipleship, Worship, Missions and Community. This week, we get caught up on the work of the Worship Council.

Each Sunday, at 11 a.m., we gather for worship and so far, our 2023 services have been full of meaningful highlights like welcoming new members, sharing in the baptisms of new Christians, hearing meaningful personal testimonies, ordaining new Deacons, experiencing Pentecost in multiple languages and celebrating our church ministries like music, children and youth Sundays.

Beautiful sermons have been preached from our pulpit by Dock, John, Allie and Jonathan. And we’ve welcomed guest voices to share God’s word like Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III.

We have had extensive church family participation in worship through Scripture readings and testimonies. This included children and youth, and it is especially joyful to hear them tell their stories.

Looking back, which of these worship services or moments have been a special blessing to you?
And speaking of blessings, our broadcast team helps extend the worship experience beyond our church walls. They produce a livestream of the service every Sunday, broadcasting in real time on YouTube, Livestream and Facebook. The broadcast is replayed the following Sunday at 11 a.m. on the AIB network.

If reading about worship has made you curious about how you can help, check out these volunteer opportunities. By joining our team, you'll gain new skills, meet new people and contribute to the church community in a meaningful way.

   •  Camera Operators: We have two directly controlled cameras (the ones you see in the balcony) and a few remote-controlled cameras that are managed in the control room. You'll be responsible for ensuring that our broadcast looks great and captures all the key moments of our service. Training will be provided.
   •  Graphics Managers: You'll be responsible for managing graphics that are displayed at the bottom of the screen during the broadcast, including names, titles and hymn lyrics. Training will be provided.
   •  Coming Soon: Offering teams are being organized to begin passing the offering plates every Sunday.

If you are interested in learning more, please email us at worship@spdl.org. Thanks for your willingness to be a part of our worship services in so many ways.

P.S. Don’t miss Communion on Sunday, June 25!
