Good Neighbors to All People
Good Neighbors to All People
By Rev. Allie Osborne | Minister of Missions & Children’s Discipleship and
Jonathan Hall | Minister of Community and Student Discipleship
Over the past few years, Second-Ponce has decided to respond to the growing racial unrest in our country by taking steps to educate ourselves about racism, about whiteness and about the black history that has shaped us as Christians. We have called this the “All Together” movement. All Together was designed as a racial reconciliation program powerful enough to reach the congregation and community, but flexible enough to utilize the gifts of our staff and lay leaders ...
Former Associate Pastor Dr. Joshua Scott used his gift of preaching for a year-long contemporary worship experience, and his gift of teaching for two book studies (find these materials at www.spdl.org/alltogether)
Our Community Council and TV production ministry used their gifts to research and produce nine educational videos that celebrate Black Baptist history, for which our church received praise from the greater Baptist community.
This year, the Community Council is hosting an excursion Sunday, February 12 to the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in downtown Atlanta. After worship, we’ll gather for lunch at a local restaurant, followed by traveling to the Center to tour a variety of Civil Rights exhibits and discover how we can be involved in furthering the reconciliation ministry.
Ticket Costs: $15/adult | $12/K-12th Grade
Lunch Cost: Your own meal at Fellinis or Moe's
Sign up by Sunday, February 5 with Jonathan Hall at jhall@spdl.org
We hope you’ll join us for more than this outing. Also, join us as
We rededicate ourselves to congregational and communal racial reconciliation.
We remember black history through its overflowing accomplishments and suffering.
We pledge to be good neighbors to ALL people as a church standing for justice, equity and Christ.
