Summer Good News Part 1

We can hardly believe that summer 2023 is coming to a close! As we look back on the last few months, we’re reminded of the good ministry that happened both inside and outside of our church walls. This week, two of our ministers shared a few highlights from summer at Second-Ponce.

From Jonathan Hall, Minister of Community and Student Discipleship:

  • SPdL Youth’s trip to Passport Camps in June was a resounding success! We spent a week learning and living what it means to be part of Jesus’ Upside Down world!

  • I’ve been able to get together for lunch with members of the youth group on a number of occasions throughout the summer as we learn more about each other and grow closer as a group.

  • SPdL Young Adult’s karaoke night was a great success! We spent three hours together singing and dancing to a wide variety of songs, and left talking about when we’ll do it again!

From Bill Gabbard, Minister of Music:

We continue to get moving again after the pandemic, with increased numbers in our choir from week to week; our average choir attendance is 18-20, which is great compared to this time last year. It’s wonderful to have our orchestra friends back with us on a regular basis! We welcomed several new members to the choir over the last year, and hope to welcome more when we begin our new season in the fall. Week after week, it’s a joy to see people in the pews singing…this coming Sunday, we will have another medley of hymns in our worship service!
