Summer Good News Part 2
We can hardly believe that summer 2023 has come to a close! As we look back on the last few months, we’re reminded of the good ministry that happened both inside and outside of our church walls. This week, Rev. Allie Osborne shared some highlights from our children’s ministry and missions. After reading this, we can’t wait to see how God moves within Second-Ponce this fall!
Good News from The Kids’ Club:
The Kids’ Club had a great time camping together at Stone Mountain. We spent the day in the park and attended the really cool Latino Festival Lights Show. And of course we had LOTS of s’mores!
Vacation Bible School was a BLAST! 50 kids from our church and community joined us for a week as we learned about outer space and all the ways we can “Shine Jesus’ Light” in our lives.
We took a group of 3rd-6th graders to PassportKids Camp at Rock Eagle. We spent 4 days learning to think about faith in “Upside Down” ways. And in our free time, we found what is probably the best ice cream in Georgia.
We celebrated back -to-school Sunday with our children and youth—blessing their backpacks and wishing them well as they start the school year.
Good News from Missions:
A group of church members volunteered their time at Toco Hills Community Alliance, one of our missions partners that provides free and healthy food to our unhoused neighbors as well as those experiencing food insecurity.
Our VBS kids donated packs of socks and underwear to restock our benevolence packs that were put together by our campus partner Respite Care Atlanta.
A group of 15 youth and adults spent a week in Miami at Touching Miami with Love—leading Bible devotions, games, crafts and spending quality time with the kids of Overtown. We also used our medical missions resources to provide free eye exams to everyone at the TML children and youth camp!
