Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday
Sunday, April 9 | Sunday School | Worship | Lemonade on the Lawn
Sunday, April 9, Celebrate our Risen Savior at Second-Ponce! We'll begin with Sunday School and small groups at 9:45 a.m. followed by worship at 11 in the Sanctuary. Bring your best blooms as we'll flower the cross* prior to the service. At Noon, we'll fellowship together during Lemonade on the Lawn where you'll have the opportunity to take pictures with the flowered cross. Invite your friends, family and neighbors to experience this joyful Sunday together!
*What does it mean to "flower the cross?" The tradition of “flowering the cross” acknowledges the transition from Good Friday to Easter by transforming the barren cross—a reminder of Jesus' death—into a beautiful, living symbol of the resurrection. The cross on the SPdL lawn will be covered in a wire form that holds flowers and greenery. Prior to Easter worship, each attendee picks out a fresh flower—one they bring from home or one of the blooms provided by the church—and places it within the cross' wire form. Eventually, the cross is completely covered in beautiful flowers with a brilliant array of color, light and fragrance. After worship, there is another tradition of folks gathering with loved ones (or solo) to take photos with the stunning flowered cross.

Interested in trying out a new spiritual practice during Lent? Then drop by the Fellowship Hall any time (or multiple times) between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11 or Sunday, March 12. You'll need to be barefoot to walk the labyrinth, so wear socks so your feet are warm! Guidance and tips will be provided onsite. For additional information contact the Discipleship Council at discipleship@spdl.org.
